A studio for electroacoustic composition
Studio PANaroma is an electroacoustic composition studio affiliated with Unesp, devoted to new, contemporary, speculative — or, as Theodor W. Adorno would say, radical — music, a designation that in Brazil usually corresponds to the term contemporary art music.
Brazil has a considerable number of electronic studios devoted to popular music, the jingle market, bands, soundtracks, advertising and sound design, above all in major centers such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. Studio PANaroma does not belong to that circuit: since its founding, its purpose — idealistic, but not utopian — has been to establish, within the university, an electroacoustic composition studio able to offer young composers in art music composition programs, as well as guest composers, professional-level training in one of the central axes of contemporary musical composition: electroacoustic music, with or without acoustic instruments, with or without real-time electronic transformation.

What the founding made possible
Building on that foundation, it became possible for the first time in Brazil to create and accredit — at Unesp — the Bachelor of Music with a Major in Composition and an Emphasis in Electroacoustic Composition, as well as to establish the country's first graduate program allowing a thesis or dissertation devoted to electroacoustic composition.
Studio PANaroma is thus a center for research and composition dedicated specifically to electroacoustic music, with a national and international standing consolidated over the course of its history.
